Made it through Day 3 of my three day detox plan , Hurrah!
As I was going back to work today, I knew I would be hungry. So, I made myself an extra-large cup of orange, grapefruit and lemon juice. It perked me up straightaway and kept me full till about 11am. That’s when my stomach started to growl a bit but you know, sometimes you can push pass it and that’s what I did and worked till bout 1-ish where I went to have my lunch.
Because I couldn’t juice it myself, I had to settle for the good old juices from the hawker stalls. Had a celery with carrot juice (see benefits here) and brought back a sugarcane with lemon one (slight sugar fix for me).
In the evening, I went for my Bikram class (oh, how I missed it!), been almost a month since I practiced and it absolutely floored me. New Year’s resolution? Do more Bikram Yoga. If you don’t know what Bikram Yoga is, you can find out more about the benefits of Bikram Yoga here in an article I wrote not too long ago.
If you are reading this and shaking your head violently and tsking in protest and thinking that juicing is just another fad, I can’t stop you but I think that everything done in moderation is okay. Far better to drink healthy juices for three days than overindulging in rich food for three days. Read this article, “Are juice cleanses really healthy? Why some wellness experts worry.” for more insight.
Excerpt here if you are lazy to read:
Cher Pastore, R.D says people absolutely should not expect lasting weight loss and should keep cleanses short: “I believe a one- to three-day juice cleanse can be a part of a healthy eating plan. Any longer, I wouldn’t recommend it.”
So if like me, you have been eating too much over this festive period and just want to eat healthily for 1-3 days by juice cleansing, I really see no problem with it but if you are doing it for weight loss…… That’s another story. (it could jump-start your diet/weight loss plan though and if it gets you on the right track to be more conscious of what you consume, why not?)
Not judging but I think that a healthier way to go if you wanna lose weight is the good old fashioned but damn hard way of eating sensibly, exercising regularly and NOT cheating.
