Over the weekend, I had the chance to join nearly 10,000 runners on the inaugural Illumi Run Singapore – a fun 5km run where runners were doused with specially imported, non toxic neon illumi glow water accompanied by DJs spinning various genres of music at different zones where different coloured glow water awaited them.
The first zone was a crowd favorite of bubbles that filled the UV marquee, spirits were high and lots of runners took this chance to take lots of photos of their unique “splashed on” tee. I realised that at the end of the race, no two tees were the same.
Other tunes included funky retro, Korean Pop that kept the runners’ excitement high along the four black marquees with specailly installed UV lights. It culminated in a tunnel along Republic Bloulevard with an enthralling laser display accompanied with Electronic Dance Music.
The party continued at the finish line with Official Party Partner Mink and Massive Collective DJs Sabrina, Tinc, Mathias, and ATran. Urban Drum Crew also performed on self-improvised water LED drums and treated participants to a unique percussion performance with special pyrotechnic displays further ramping up the night.

“It has been an incredible journey debuting the ILLUMI RUN in Singapore. The atmosphere tonight is awesome, and at times, it seemed more like a party than a run! We are glad to see so many happy faces enjoying the night and we can’t wait to come back in 2014 with an even greater and brighter run,” said Jeffrey Foo, Director of Infinitus Productions, conceptualiser and organiser of ILLUMI RUN.
Overall, it was such a great experience, I never had so much fun in a run before although this felt more like a walk in the end, the beat was throbbing, the vibe was so good and everyone was in such great spirits that day. Not to mention, the weather held up beautifully and of course, I had my bestie with me for the race 🙂
